hey everyone...
I created this blog because my best friend, Erica Maize, has Hodgkins Disease, which is cancer of the lymph nodes in her chest and back. Lymph Nodes are located throughout the body and they filter foreign particles and traps them. A few weeks ago she felt a small, tender lump on her neck, so she went to the doctor. Erica went through a series of tests. Two weeks ago she was called during MAP testing to go home, but instead, she went to Children's Mercy. There, they took out a piece of the lump to test it. She got a CT scan before and the doctors discovered there were more than just one lump, there were many. So if you saw her with a huge bandage on her neck, it was because they took a lump out there. Erica needs a lot of support so if you could leave some nice, inspirational comments for her, it would be greatly appreciated. I also want to say she will be going through Chemotherapy soon. She, unfortunetly, might lose her hair. If you are religious I ask that you pray for her or if you go to church, put in a prayer request for her. ReplyDeleteI would love it if you would tell your friends about this blog for Erica. She's having a hard time, she needs a little inspiration and hope that she's going to be okay. Her condition is curable and she has a 90-95% change of her cancer going away. Let's hope it does.

Erica wasn't at school today or yesterday because she went to the doctor to get a PET scan and a Ct scan, she couldn't come because of the raidiation. Her mom held up a radiation detector to her arm and it beeped like crazy.

I was sick, and dont worry, I dont have swine flu. :) I'll be at school tomorrow. Ericas fine, she'll be stuck at Children's Mercy 'till Wednesday. SHe might be at school on Thursday, but it depends on how she feels. See ya at school!!!

I know about your disease and I'm really sorry about it, because now you won't be able to do as much stuff as you would've been able to if you didn't have this disease. You have a lot of friends that are supporting you and that will be there to help you if you need something. I hope you get better soon and you get to come back to school. I will be praying for you!

ReplyDeleteI posted a note the other day, I think, but I am not too sure. Erica, you are really a strong person and I know you will be able to overcome this wretched illness. And when you do, you will be a stronger person- literally and emotionally. You will know to not take what you have for granted, a lesson a lot of us need to know. I cannot believe all of this has happened, and I am sure you are worried...but do know that even those of us who don't know you, have only really seen you [like me :)], are your friends, or are your best friends [you really have amazing ones], we all think of you and Christians pray for you. ReplyDeletei dont know you and you don't know me either but i hope you still enjoy this:) my name is liz. im one of lauren's friends. i hust wanted to say that hope that you have a good time with the balloons you get. when i was in the hospital i got tons of balloons!! i wish you luck and that i am glad you have friends like lauren to tell people your story to let people give you prayers;)
Erica, if anybody was going to beat cancer its you! Strings is kind of weird because Lauren has nobody to talk to but me. :( Its kind of creepy. Anyway if you need anything post it because this is the 9th time i have been here so just ask:).

ReplyDeleteThe picture of Erica and I eating with chopsticks is not her pinching her nose. She's trying to figure them out... we were in Chinatown and people were looking at us like we were weird because we weren't using chopsticks, so we're trying to figure them out...and for the record, they didn't woek out very well for me.

You are funny in your own personal way. I know you can get past the illness because you are stronger than you think. Good Luck and keep fighting because it will be payed off.
